Tangloids

During the summer of 2022, Dr. Carol Schumacher and I researched “tangloids,” a portmanteu of Tangles and hypotrochoids, more coloquially known as spirograph curves.

This was my first foray into mathematics research, taking place after my first year of college, and this project was conducted through Kenyon’s STEM Summer Scholars program. Following the conclusion of our studies, I presented our work at MAA’s MathFest 2022 and was awarded Outstanding Poster. My poster can be found here, below, and (to my knowledge) still hanging in the third floor of Hayes Hall.
